What is TDEE Calculator?
TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is the total number of calories your body burns in a day, combining your basal metabolic rate with activity level. Knowing your TDEE is the foundation for weight loss, muscle gain, or maintenance calorie planning.
How to Use
- Enter your age, gender, weight, and height
- Select your activity level (sedentary to very active)
- View your TDEE in calories along with your BMR
- Use the result to plan calorie intake for your fitness goals
Formula
TDEE = BMR x Activity Multiplier (1.2 for sedentary to 1.9 for very active)
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between TDEE and BMR?
- BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is the calories burned at complete rest. TDEE adds activity calories on top of BMR. Your TDEE is always higher than your BMR.
- How many calories should I eat to lose weight?
- A deficit of 500 calories below your TDEE leads to roughly 1 pound of weight loss per week. A 300-500 calorie deficit is considered moderate and sustainable.
- How accurate are TDEE calculators?
- They provide a good estimate (within 10-15%) but individual metabolism varies. Use the result as a starting point and adjust based on actual weight changes over 2-3 weeks.
